I just received my author's copies of Looks Like Daylight in the mail. The book is full of interviews with amazing young people from First Nations, Native American, Metis and Inuit communities from all around North America. Doing the book was a real educational experience for me, and I came away from the project understanding a little bit of how much I have yet to learn. I hope folks will read the book and will develop a real appreciation for the wealth of brains and talent these young people bring to our world. We are lucky that they are here.

Dom community of Jerusalem
ESRA magazine is a publication for English-speaking Israeli women. They have just published a piece I wrote on the Dom women of Jerusalem and their work of organizing a community centre to provide much-needed serves to the folks in their community. The link is www.esra-magazine.com/blog/post/hidden-gems
This month's edition of Herizons magazine also has an article on the Dom women.
Syria
The UN reports that more than two million Syrians have fled their land to become refugees in nearby countries, including Iraq. For awhile, Iraqis sought refuge in Syria. Four million other Syrians are displaced inside Syria No one knows where or when the violence will hit, so they move, hoping they'll be safe in the new location. Let's keep them in our thoughts and help out as we can.
